Thank you to Stacey Edge of Common Ground Community Rescue Network (Elgin) and Vinyl Touch Graphics (River Grove),
together we worked with Red Cross
and provided clothing, toys, books, pet supplies to over 100 families affected by the Tornados in Woodridge and Naperville.
Our Story & Your Donations
In 2020 a pandemic started, everything closed including schools, libraries, businesses, restaurants and stores. Parents lost their jobs and families were struggling. I saw this and wanted to help. Through my company B&B Books I started to give away books to families of first responders as a thank you for continuing to work during the pandemic. The response was so wonderful that friends started giving me books, clothes and toys to give away. I have friends in public service and gave them items for families in need throughout Cook County and Chicago. First responders started stopping people to give away toys and books. It was a way to help brighten the day of children and families during such a difficult time. We also donated items to Ashunti House in Chicago and Orland Park Food Pantry. We have provided nearly 10,000 BOOKS, TOYS & CLOTHING items to those in need. Yes, all of it was stored in my house.
In May of 2021, I started Purple Manatee Resale in Lombard, IL because we wanted to expand our philanthropic ventures, (We also wanted our house back!) Purple Manatee Resale supports various charities and non- profits, sells items and helps those in need. I feel very lucky for the life I have and want to continue to help others.
In June 2021, a tornado hit Woodridge and Naperville. We partnered with Red Cross, Common Ground Community Rescue Network and Vinyl Touch Graphics to provide clothing, household items, toys, books and pet supplies to those affected. We provided over 200 hours of service to sort, organize and distribute items to families .
